Piggy's glasses are an important symbol in the book because it starts the fire.
They also make you look more intelligent and mature.
The galsses give them hope that someone will come and help them.
the glasses make things clearer, for example he found the conch.
In first chapter they push the boulder off the mt. and it made a bomb sound which is another example of mountainous martial imagery.
Because the fire is on the mt. it is also sort of martial imagery because they are trying to signal a ship involved in the war and its calling the war back to them.
In Genesis gaining knowledge is the loss of innocence. When Jack takes Piggy's glasses, is he also taking his innocense? For example, as soon as his glasses were taken away and they started the fire, he seemed to get more violent and laughed about the fire furthering the idea of his loss of innocence.
When people are mad we say they can't "see straight." When J. took P.'s glasses he literally (and figuratively?) see straight. Anger is blinding.
Annotations:
The glasses gave piggy a comfort and when Jack took them away he lost his comfort that he was used to with his glasses on.
When J. gets violent it relates to the martial imagery because in war people are violent and take things from others (e.g., territory)
It also foreshadows and further develops his violent character in preparation for his becoming more violent.

Annotations:
No one on the island could do anything about the island setting on fire.
The Boy with the Mulberry went missing which implies that he is dead. No more talking about the Beastie because he is gone. Since he was gone when the fire was heading into the forest they are also forgetting their mistake of setting the forest on fire by forgetting the Boy with the Mulberry colored birthmark.
Conflagration is a huge fire.
Golding also described the creepers that were on fire as moving around like "snakes."
