Not much is said about Simon. He is chosen to go with Ralph and Jack to explore.
He does not speak much.
42
He stands up for Piggy, saying "We used specs...He helped in that way."
It shows that he is unbiased. As of recent, many of the kids were turning on Piggy, because he is different. However, Simon stands up for him.
56- 57
Simon is wandering the forest.
This shows how Simon is separated from the rest of the group. Ralph and Jack were in an argument, because while Ralph is worried about getting shelters for all of the children, Jack is worried about hunting and getting meat. Simon, however, lives in a world outside of all the political turmoil and conflict. The forest brings out a more 'spiritual' side of Simon.
74
Simon gives Piggy food, even though Jack puts Piggy down
This shows Simons inner, heart, and how kind he actually is
85
Simon talks about a special place he goes once night appears.
This shows how mysterious Simon is. There hasnt been much said about him, but as of know, it is pretty difficult to understand Simon.
111
Simon is shown almost comforting Ralph, telling him that he will be back from where he came soon.
This again shows Simon's inner good, as he is comforting those around him.
128
Simon tells the group that they should all climb the mountain.
This shows a little more about Simon, because although he is not the best public speaker, he is still able to propose good solutions to problems.
142-143
Simon has his encounter with the Lord of the Flies.
This is a very important part of the book. Similar to Jesus being tempted by Satan for 40 years in the forest, Simon is held up by this Lord of the Flies. The lord of the flies tells Simon that he will have fun with him, which almost foreshadows Simon's downfall.
152-153
Simon returns with news on who the real "beast" is, but the hunters believe that Simon is the real beast, and kill him.
This shows one of the true destructions of their civilization, as before it was just the harmless killing of pigs. Now, they killed Simon, the most pure of the boys on the island. This foreshadows that even more conflict will arise from this incident.
