"Illusions" & "mirage" usu. happens when something goes wrong with one's mind.

This talks about Percival the littl'un who they had found in fear (homesick)
The littl'un's fear is present throughout the island and this is just one example of this.
P. showing signs of "weakness" and the boys consider him "psycho."
Releasing his emotion to release his stress. Particularly human ways.

On the island, Ralph is an adult. Parents comfort littl'uns, and the children still need a parent to be around.
At night they are by themselves, but when they go to the meetings, everyone else is older so they feel more comfortable
