The Calendar is front and center. It appears as a list of dates and assignments. The dates are the dates the assignments are DUE.
If you click on an assignment, it will expand to show you more specifics.
If you click on "more details" you will go to a page that will give you access to any links or files that you need to complete an assignment. Always click on "more details" to be sure you don't miss something.
You will also have the option to add the assignment to your personal Google Calendar.
If you have a Google account, you automatically have a Google calendar. In fact, you can subscribe to the assignments calendar so that assignments are automatically added to your calendar. Go to your Google Calendar and click on "add" at the bottom left where it lists "Other Calendars." In fact, you can add this calendar to almost any calendar program, such as iCal or the Blackberry calendar program. If you have an iPhone or an Android phone you can even get the calendar there.
